Algonquin College Collective Agreement

A collective agreement is a written contract between an employer and a union that describes many of the terms and conditions of employment of workers in a bargaining unit. There are two collective agreements that cover members of Algonquin College`s bargaining unit. The academic collective agreement includes professors, teachers, part-time employees, counsellors and librarians. The Support Staff Collective Agreement applies to all full-time support staff in Appendix D and Appendix G. Under Article 14.03 A2(a), “annual checkpoint supplements shall be based on experience gained and professional experience shall be equal to one stage for each year completed. Above the checkpoint, but not beyond the maximum, a stage is granted if the performance was satisfactory last year. Human Resources monitors the amount of services accumulated and automatically increases the corresponding step on an annual basis to the checkpoint. In addition, we work with you and your leader throughout the performance evaluation process. The rate paid before the March 23 pay included the vacation pay in the overall rate provided for in the collective agreement for academic workers: the table below showed the applicable checkpoint on the basis of the maximum level of remuneration.

All full-time employees are compensated based on their placement in the following pay grids. The maximum stage is set at the time of hiring and is based on an employee`s formal training or equivalencies. Variable factors are displayed on the vacancy notice itself. The starting placement in the salary table is determined during the adjustment process and the progress of the grid is determined by the duration of operation and satisfactory performance up to a predetermined maximum (see table of maximum content below). .
